I thought the course was good to learn about the different point of views about different pieces of writing. It made me more open minded about learning more depth on how to look at different pieces of work and better understand them.
My favorite part of the class was learning about how to write persuading you teacher to change your grade. It was one of the first classes I took but it was interesting to learn that teachers really look into how their students p
ersuade them.
I would say the hardest thing in this class was learning how to handle writing differently. We learned about different types of writing and they were all hard for me to understand. I know we heard different examples but it was still to hard for me to understand. The book was hard to understand the concepts. The examples were so hard because they were so different from each other.
I would include this experience with learning about mistakes in my life. I think with using this course I could learn more about what common themes in my life adds up to making my mistakes. Just like we learned about in ldealogical critcism. You gather all the themes about the suject and how their related to make the final piece. I would think about learning about this method would better help me rethink my process of thinking in general. This class would help me think through things more clearly.
I think I would use my knowledge about and put it towards the issue of electing my president for a future term. Looking at Obama now I could take what I have learned about his consistent themes in the past. This could better help me understand if I want to continue with him or a new president. It could better help me understand about current events and what works best. For example within this new year I will learn if this new social security thing is effective or not. This idea will help my better make my selection in the future.

Paper 2: Britany Spears music using Ideological criticism
I chose my top on Britney Spears and her music because I thought that she has been in the media constantly. She always has some new type of drama whether is has to deal with her custody with her kids or her trying to make a come back, it's always something new.
I am going to use Ideological criticism. Using this method I am going to analyze her work through her music video's, her live performances and her progression of music.
Hard times- when she shaved her head, and her performance at the 2007 MTV awards.( She looked horrible and did a terrible job)
Progression- Each CD she has come out with she has shown that she is growing up. Example her freshmen album to sophomore she sings "Not yet a women."
Exotic- She continually is trying new things. The infamous three way kiss during the MTV awards and dance moves in her music videos.
Music Video's- Talk about the genre of them. For example talking about her Cirrus tour how she is in the middle of the ring and the spotlight is on her.
Live performances- In 2007 when she performed at the MTV awards she was supposed to be making a come back. Unfortunately she looked horrible she was wearing unflattering clothing, overweight and she really did not dance just walked around the stage even though it was a fast paced song.
Progression of music- Going from her freshmen album were she is portrayed as being very innocent she jumped to being portrayed as a sex symbol. Her next album had words that had the lyric "I'm not that innocent," and she was wearing red and portrayed as the devil and wearing red leather.

Flim Festival Assignment
For the week of the film festival I went and saw "Field of Dreams." This movie was about a man that owned a farm and had voices that told him to build a baseball field on it. Throughout the movie he went through many struggles to actually making this dream become a reality.
A type of criticism that would be good to use was fantasy. You could use his dreams about wanting to watch all the great baseball players play with when he actually got to see the ghost play. You could also use it because he was seeing the great baseball players ghost's playing on his in the process of being built baseball field on his farm. It shows one dream is coming true about watching the ghosts play and that his dream for the baseball field being built on his farm was almost complete and gave him more motivation.

Fantasy-Theme Criticism
Britney Spears
She is a pop singer and a major icon. You can see a lot of the ways she expressed these through her lyrics and her performances on stage and in her music videos.
One example is on her second record the single "Oops!...I did it again." When her first CD had come out she was viewed by the public as an innocent and wholesome teenager. With this song in the music video for the first time she wears sexually suggestive clothing with was out character. In the lyrics she ends the song with "I'm not that innocent," and she was dressed in red with flames in the background. This image was to portray the "devilish" side of her and that she was a changed person not what she used to be.
Another example is in her hit single "Slave 4-U." She is talking about how she felt like a slave to the media and public. In the music video it shows her dressed as a slave and being pulled by people in different directions.
Lastly her most recent tour, and single "Cirrus." This whole album was her come back from all of the horrible things that had happened to her in the past two years. Yet again just like the "Slave 4-U," single takes about her struggle with the media. The music video shows her being the center of a cirrus that is going on. Artifact: The Old Dominion Monarch Seal.
This Seal is in the middle of the Old Dominion University campus. It is not supposed to be walked on until you have graduated or when you are on your way to the ted center to graduate. It is said that if you walk across the Seal you will not graduate.
Agent: Old Dominion University Seal.
Act: Symbolize the University.
Scene: The center of the University in Norfolk
Purpose: To promote encouragement to graduate. Some type of incentive for graduating.
Agency:Education.

Bar Norfolk
Bar Norfolk
My artifact was about Z-104 broadcasting live from Bar Norfolk. During these live broadcast you can hear the music and all of the people in the bar. The purpose of the live broadcast is to make the listeners a home to feel like they are part of the party, and get them to visit Bar Norfolk.
The whole idea of this advertisement is to persuade the audience of listeners one way or another. To come join the party, make you feel apart of the good time they're having or to always continually let them be your number one choice.
As much fun and carefree as they make things sound the whole process is not. Both the broadcasting company and the Bar Norfolk have the motive of making money off of this event. The listeners are forced to listen to commercial advertisements, continually hear about Bar Norfolk, and keep you choosing Z-104 to listen to as their first choice. So with all of that it is kind of strange how something can be appear to be carefree and fun but really it is all about making money.
All of advertising are complete hidden messages. I went online and found that Bar Norfolk and Z-104 have a deal where they mutually advertise for themselves. Since they both make enough money from using each other. Meaning that Z-104 broadcast for free from Bar Norfolk.
